Gmail stops fetching your other mailbox

If gmail.com picks up your business mail with "Check mail from other accounts" (POP) or Gmailify, that ends in January 2027 for everyone still using it (Google's help page). Mail already fetched stays; new mail to info@yourshop.com stops showing up. Enter the address and we'll check its domain and pick the way out that works for it.

Not sure? On gmail.com: Settings (gear) > See all settings > Accounts and Import. An address under "Check mail from other accounts" is fetched by POP.

How it picks

  • Forwarding is the easiest fix, but a plain forwarder at a web host resends mail from the host's servers. SPF then fails, and senders with a strict DMARC policy (p=reject or p=quarantine) bounce with 550 5.7.26 or land in Spam. Hosts that rewrite the sender (SRS: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho, Fastmail) don't have this problem. With your own domain at p=reject or p=quarantine we don't suggest a plain forwarder at all.
  • The Gmail phone app reads other accounts over IMAP on Android and iPhone. That's the fix Google's help page gives first. It shows on the phone only, not on gmail.com in a computer's browser. We take the IMAP server name from your MX record.
  • Old mail Gmail already fetched stays in Gmail. Only mail left on the host needs a one-time copy.
  • A new mailbox when the domain has no working mail server, or the host can't forward cleanly and you'd rather not use the phone.

A forward bounced already? Paste the bounce line into the bounce reader. Moving to a new address altogether: the new address checklist lists every account to change.
